Nichola Alice Leigh

Born in 1966, in the Eastern Transvaal where the original Everard Group artists were based, Nichola Leigh grew up in Pietermaritzburg, KwaZulu-Natal. She studied at the University of Natal, graduating with a BA (Fine Arts). She is now an established artist with works in numerous private, public and corporat collections in South Africa, United Kingdom, America, France and the Netherlands. Her inspiration is drawn from her visual surroundings; the african landscape, her family, her love of animals, and her strong spiritual beliefs. In a recent exhibition “Animals in Captivity” Leigh explored her heartfelt response to the treatment of caged, wild animals, expressing issues of anxiety, despair, and frustration.
